About Scott

“Seeing how hard my parents worked just to get by, and seeing how much working people struggle to survive inspires and guides me in how I serve and support our community.

I've always tried to see things through the eyes of other people - and to think about those who might need a little more help than others.”

About Scott

Scott is a lifelong Mainer who was recently elected to his third consecutive term on the Lewiston City Council. He is also serving his second term as the Council’s representative on the Lewiston School Committee.

Growing up on a dairy farm, Scott knows the value of hard work - and how hard it can be to get ahead when times are tough.

Scott cares about Lewiston. He shows up. Scott understands that Lewiston people are struggling to make ends meet, and he cares about serving the people he represents to help them get what they need.

As our representative, Scott will:

  • Deliver tax reform and funding for programs to help older Mainers and working-class families afford groceries, prescriptions, heating oil, and electricity.

  • Support efforts to make housing, health care and childcare more affordable.

  • Direct more funding to Lewiston’s public schools and after-school programs to keep our kids safe and supported.

  • Ensure that our immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking neighbors are protected.

  • Defend our democracy by resisting federal overreach, protecting voting rights, and strengthening civic engagement.

  • "I am thrilled that Scott Harriman has decided to step up once again for the people of Lewiston. Scott is exactly the right person at the right time to fill this role. He cares deeply about this community and is a familiar face in Augusta, advocating for important issues such as Paid Family Medical Leave, housing security, healthcare, funding for our public schools, and tax fairness.

There is no one more qualified, and no one I trust more to fill this opening with integrity, empathy, and a true desire to serve his constituents."

    - Kristen Cloutier
    former Lewiston State Representative

  • "I've spent my life serving Lewiston. I've seen how much families, first responders, and our whole community depend on leaders who show up, listen, bring people together, and get results.

That's why I'm supporting Scott Harriman for State House. Scott understands what it takes to make Lewiston a place where working families and retirees can afford to live and where we have what we need to keep our residents safe. I hope you join me in supporting Scott - he works hard and won't quit until Lewiston is safer, stronger, and moving foward."

    - Mike Lajoie
State Representative, former Lewiston Fire Chief

  • "Through Scott's work on the City Council and School Committee, I've seen his quiet leadership create real, positive change here in our community. Scott shows up and does the work: whether it's standing up for what's right when it comes to housing affordability, pushing against proposed city policies that would make it more difficult for families to find shelter in the cold, listening to educators doing the work on the ground every day, or digging into the details about community safety.

Scott's steady and thoughtful leadership is what Lewiston needs in Augusta - and it's why I encourage you to join me in supporting Scott Harriman for State House.”

    - Julie McCabe
    State Representative & Lewiston Educator

  • “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Scott Harriman on the City of Lewiston’s Housing Committee and the City’s Shelter Committee, and I’ve seen firsthand his dedication to serving Lewiston.

Scott is committed to addressing the long-term challenges that we face as a community: workforce development, job creation, public education, healthcare, and housing affordability. Scott will be a strong advocate for Lewiston people in Augusta, and I’m excited to support him to represent Lewiston’s House District 94.”

    - Craig Saddlemire,
    Cooperative Housing Developer, Lewiston

  • “Scott is a thoughtful, even-keeled, and stands up for what is right. That’s why he has my vote for State Representative.

Scott has shown his love for Lewiston over and over, and I look forward to him bring that to the State House. I have worked with Scott on many issues from city planning to bicycle and pedestrian projects to LGBTQ community events. Scott leads with his heart but acts with his mind. This thoughtful and level headed approach is what we need representing Lewiston in Augusta.”

    - Alex Pine
    Lewiston resident

  • “I served on the City Council with Scott Harriman for two years. I’ve always appreciated how principled Scott is, and how his commitment to fairness for everyone shines through his efforts.

Scott listens, he thinks before he speaks, and he considers others’ opinions with fairness and respect. He doesn’t assume he knows everything; he asks questions and listens to understand. He doesn’t back down from getting his constituents’ needs met, and he works hard to represent the people in his ward. He’ll make a great Representative for Lewiston.”

    - Stephanie Gelinas
    former Lewiston City Councilor

  • “I worked with Scott on the Housing Committee. While we didn’t see eye to eye on everything, we shared the belief that Lewiston needs more housing, and it needs to be easier to provide that housing to people who need it.

Even when Scott and I disagreed, his approach to working through disagreements was to listen to what others said with respect and to try to work toward common ground. He genuinely tries to see and understand the opposing view. That is a big part of what is missing in politics right now: people are unwilling to talk through their differences for the good of others. I’m glad Scott is running for the Legislature - he hears common sense beyond the talking points and is willing to compromise to move us forward.”

    - Dash Padham
    Lewiston Housing Committee Member

  • “Lewiston needs mature, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership, and that’s exactly what Scott Harriman brings to the table. Scott does his homework, puts in the work to solve the real problems we face right here in our own backyard, and consistently puts others before himself.

Scott leads with care, integrity, and a strong commitment to our community. He shows up. I’m proud to support Scott to represent Lewiston in Augusta.”

    - Tom Reynolds
    Lewiston resident

  • “I’ve known Scott for years. Scott cares deeply for Lewiston and Lewiston people, and he puts that care into action in how he represents his constituents. Scott is invested in the well being of everyone in this community and in the success of Lewiston as a whole. I am proud to endorse him in his run to represent Lewiston in Augusta, because I trust him to stand up for us and for what is right.”

    - Mohamed Ibrahim
Lewiston resident, community leader & organizer

  • “I worked alongside Scott as a legislator with Scott on the City Council. Scott and I have different styles. He is quiet and I am more outspoken. And yet there is a quiet leadership that Scott exudes: he waits to hear others and then will speak and ask questions that the most outspoken among us are grateful for, admire, and respect. Scott is the kind of person we need in elected office right now: he leads with integrity and isn’t afraid to ask hard questions. I’m so glad to see hm stepping up and I am proud to endorse him to represent Lewiston in Augusta.”

    - Margaret Craven
    former State Senator & Representative

  • “Scott Harriman is a thoughtful, steady leader who shows real commitment to Lewiston people, including immigrant and refugee families. He sees and hears the fears many people in our communities are feeling right now, and he believes every resident deserves safety, dignity, and respect. Scott listens first and works hard to solve problems in a fair and practical way. As he enters his third elected office term to serve Lewiston and his constituents, I believe he has the experience and is the right person to represent us in Augusta.”

    - Mohamed Awil
    Community leader

  • “I’ve been involved in our community for decades, and have always appreciated a leader who stands up for what’s right even when it’s hard. Scott Harriman does just that. He cares about his neighbors, he leads with the belief that everyone in our community should be treated with dignity and respect, and he works hard for people who need help. I’m proud to support Scott Harriman to represent Lewiston in the State Legislature.”

    - Jim Lysen
    former Lewiston City Councilor

  • “We were impressed by Scott’s determined and resourceful support for meeting the needs of Lewiston’s residents and his ability to bring voters of many backgrounds and perspectives together in sometimes difficult races.”

    - Jim Parakilas, on behalf of the Maine People’s Alliance
